Hardships & friendships

Each one of us can make a difference. Together we make change.

The last week was exhausting. I organized a workshop for young people from Sunday to Friday including the nights. In terms of content I don’t feel like we accomplished a lot. Luckily this time participants told me, that they learned a lot about social life and their own life. For them the most important things happened in their free time, informal and during the nights. As I weren’t aware of that, I felt most of my work was in vain. Realizing later for the first time what a big impact it had on people’s lifes and how it gave them hope, was just amazing. They learned how to express themselves and found new perspectives.

I am grateful I met them even though it wasn’t a very easy week. The first two nights I got no sleep because of the noise. The third night I spent in hospital with a girl, the forth night was quite okay and the last night I didn’t get any sleep either. We got nearly thrown out of the premises because people didn’t pay attention to their actions, two times we hold back people who wanted to fight with outsiders, people just disappeared and so on. In spite of everything it was a great experience for all of them and we grew together and created a special moment. I learned about some of their stories and hardships and was impressed how they handled everything. I spent the week with amazing people, each one having their own qualities, one of which was to keep me awake (I slept 2 days in a row and while typing I still drift away sometimes ><)

Another precious memory, happy moments where we talked together, laughing together, joking, learning from each other. Learning tolerance and accepting differences. Opening up to someone else’s world and history.

Happiness as a feeling of tolerance, feeling at ease, understanding each other and being together.
