The Contortionist – suffering and love

A strong young woman, bending but not breaking, to find herself – not to please others.

The Contortionist

Even after all these years I remember the moment I met her as clear as it was yesterday. We contacted each other through facebook and when we were meeting for the first time, I was standing there, wondering if I will recognize her. When she walked up I immediately knew it was her. I thought – wow, she is different. Back then I didn’t know yet how true that thought was.

It has now been 5 years and I was – no I am a witness of her growth and change. The first year she was (sorry darling) miserable as a human being. She struggled and tried to find happiness. She fought and she loved and she got hurt. Then slowly she found new ways and gradually became better.

I visited her last week over Easter. We really don’t see each other that often, so I was very glad we both found the time. Seeing her this time showed me, she found herself – she found her happiness. The moment she decided to completely let go of everything she knew and was thaught while growing up – get a good paid and safe job, get married, get 2 kids and a beautiful house – she found herself. She followed her heart even though she was afraid and had no clue what will be. It is definitely not an easy life she has right now – but she is free, she loves herself, does everyday what she loves and doesn’t try to please anyone or live her life the way others want her to. With her decision came a positive mindset and with the positive mindset everything fell in place. When we are ready to jump, the universe sends us what we need the moment we need it, so our journey will be successful.

Being a witness to her change makes me feel so glad we met and to call her my friend. She made me understand that we only live for ourselves – not for others. It is our life, so we should follow our hearts. Not while being reckless and egoistic, but in a kind and understanding way towards others. Still never forget about your dreams and your needs. Finding a balance between these two sides will open up a whole new perspective. Believing in positive thinking and positive attraction makes the journey enjoyable.

I love to tell her story to people who tell me they are unhappy because they want to do something and change their life, but are to afraid of the unknown. I tell the story to show them it is worth it. When you believe in yourself, don’t stop trying and follow your heart – you WILL find your happiness. The only thing left is – JUMP INTO THE UNKNOWN ❤
